Negombo is located at the mouth of the Negombo Lagoon. Its wide sandy beaches and the safe seas are the major attractions, but there’s much more to see in the city. A confluence of Dutch and Hindu history, this quaint seaside village has a bustling fish stall market that guests will get to experience in action during their walking tour.

DAY 3: Negombo – Dambulla

Check-out after breakfast and transfer to the heart of the Cultural Triangle. The Dambulla Cave Temples await here, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where kids can marvel over the huge lion’s mouth! There are five caves here containing approximately 200 statues of Lord Buddha. Afternoon to relax by the pool. Three nights in Dambulla.

DAY 4: Sigiriya & Wildlife

Morning spent travelling to Sigiriya and hiking the iconic Lion Rock (UNESCO World Heritage Site), once a capital of Sri Lanka in the 5th century. The afternoon continues with a wildlife safari at Minneriya National Park. The park is largely based on a huge reservoir and serves as an important gathering place for Sri Lanka’s large elephant population. Minneriya is also home to many other species of mammals.

DAY 5: Village Tour

Transfer to Hiriwaduna to experience a unique village tour. Guests meet farmers and their families, learn about their daily life and the shift to organic farming methods in Sri Lanka. The guided walk goes alongside Hiriwadunna Lake and includes a little jungle crossing by catamaran. Visitors can then enjoy a final bullock cart ride through the paddy fields. Afternoon at leisure.

DAY 6: Dambulla – Kandy

A full-day cultural exploration of Kandy. The royal city was the last indigenous capital of Sri Lanka and is said to be the most picturesque of all the Sri Lankan cities. On the way, clients visit a spice garden and the renowned Temple of the Tooth relic. Day ends with a cultural dance show in the theatre. Stay overnight in Kandy.

DAY 7: Kandy – Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast travel to Nuwara Eliya (“little England”) through thousands of acres of tea plantations. On the way, guests are sure to spot some tea pickers and stunning waterfalls. On arrival, the family will visit a tea factory to see just how tea is produced. Overnight in Nuwara Eliya.
